The fourth editor in chief to lead the company during its 70-year history, Christine French Cully is responsible for shaping the editorial direction of all the products the company develops. She plays a strategic, ongoing role in the development of the Highlights vision and brand across all markets and channels worldwide.

After fifteen years in children’s publishing, Cully joined the company's flagship magazine, Highlights, in 1994, and served as its editor from 2004 to 2012. Under her leadership, the company launched High Five  and High Five Bilingüe for preschoolers and Highlights Hello for infants and toddlers. Combined, these magazines have a paid circulation of more than two million. The Let’s Grow! book club, introduced in 2014, was created to help parents celebrate the joys of everyday life with baby.

Cully also oversees the Highlights book division, which includes a trade publishing program under the Boyds Mills Press imprint and the book-publishing program Highlights Press. Along with its puzzle book clubs—Which Way USA, Top Secret Adventures, Puzzlemania, Puzzle Buzz, LET'S PLAY Hidden Pictures, and EAGLE-EYE Hidden Pictures, the company has shipped more than one billion magazines and developed hundreds of thousands of activities for children. Children’s products developed by the digital team Cully oversees include HighlightsKids.com and several mobile apps: Highlights Every Day, Highlights Monster Day and Highlights Shapes (preschool apps), and the popular Hidden Pictures app.

Named an Executive Vice President of the Highlights Corporation in 2011, Cully is a frequent speaker at writers’ and educators’ conferences, and a member of several boards and professional organizations. In 2004, she was named by Governor Ed Rendell as one of the “50 Best Women in Business in Pennsylvania.”

“A part of this job that I love," says Cully, "is reading and answering kids’ mail. We read and answer every letter and email we receive from kids—and I personally answer many of them myself. It’s a wonderful way to keep our finger on the pulse of our readers. What they tell us beautifully informs our work—and I know that the kids, too, are helped when they read our thoughtful, personal replies to them.  I love that Highlights delivers Fun with a Purpose to millions of kids at a time with any given issue—and also helps kids one at time become their best selves.”

The mother of a grown son and daughter, Cully lives with her husband in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.
